Breakfast Session Sponsored by Med Learning Group
Your Answers are Only as Good as Your Questions (view archive)
We have all heard the saying, “Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.” The same theory applies to evaluations and outcomes: if you want good answers, you need to ask good questions. Join the opening CMEpalooza Fall session as a group of outcomes experts discuss strategies and provide tips for developing evaluation questions that will result in useful answers. Will the session be worthwhile? Now that’s a stupid question…

The life cycle of the funded grant proposal is rarely straightforward and more often full of twists and turns that challenge both providers and supporters. This session—although not hosted by the incomparable Guy Smiley—will follow a grant proposal from ideation through execution through assessment, looking at the key people who help it overcome roadblocks and how they maneuver some of the challenges that commonly sidetrack successful education.

The Role of the Patient in Continuing Medical Education (view archive)
Patient Centeredness is cornerstone to delivering education that enables patients and clinicians to understand and deliver meaningful care. Key to realizing this goal is designing continuing educational programming that starts with patient need as an end goal and works systematically to meet patients and clinicians where they are in making stepwise decisions along a care journey. This panel discussion will bring together representatives from the provider, commercial supporter, and patient advocacy communities to share perspective on the “why, how, and what” of patient centered educational programming and offer thoughts on where digital enablement may serve more patients, sooner.

Work, Play, Slay: Millennial Perspectives on Well-Being in CPD’s Future (view archive)
Session Sponsored by DKBmed and Clinical Education Alliance
Making your way in the CME world today takes everything you’ve got. Taking a break from all your worries sure would help a lot. But the pathways to success and fulfillment, along with the day-to-day worries, sure look different for Generation Y and our younger colleagues than they did for us old codgers. This session will take a look at the key issues that the next generations are prioritizing so we can all pass the torch to them before it’s forcibly taken away from us.

CME Hot Topic Spin-the-Bottle (view archive)
Session Sponsored by ACHL and Academic CME
There will be no smooching during our version of spin-the-bottle, but there will be plenty of mystery and anticipation. Each member of our esteemed panel has been charged with covering a hot topic in the CME/CE community – many of which have come from suggestions/requests in the CMEpalooza Spring survey – and presenting a 5-8 minute micro-session on that topic. We are keeping the topics a mystery (yes, we know what they are) and will let our spinning bottle randomly select who is next up to present. Everyone, including the audience, will be invited to share their thoughts and opinions on each topic. Join us for the fun!

(OK, fine, here’s a sneak peek at the topics: it’s almost impossible to have a conference without a little something on artificial intelligence and it wouldn’t be a CME conference without someone talking about accreditation standards. That’s all you’re getting for now!)

Learning Progression Over Time in Narcolepsy: The Impact of Environmental Changes and How We Evaluate Behavior (view archive)
Narcolepsy has been a focus of continuing medical education even prior to the FDA approval of the first formulation of sodium oxybate in 2002. After the launch of that medication, and especially in the last several years, the landscape of available narcolepsy treatments has evolved, with new guidelines and the opportunity to personalize management approaches. This session delves into a year-over-year meta-analysis of CME in the narcolepsy space, examining the impact of education on knowledge and competence among sleep clinicians, and explores more broadly how environmental factors such as new FDA approvals, drug launches, guideline changes, and the introduction of new mechanisms alter the learning trajectory. Because Level 5 performance data are the best indicators of behavioral change, we will also demonstrate whether claims data can be used to identify improvements in performance in diagnosis and treatment during this timeframe.
