CMEPALOOZA FALL AGENDA

9 AM ET
Breakfast Session Sponsored by Med Learning Group
Changing Minds, Changing Habits: Education that Goes Beyond the Facts (view archive)

Why don’t healthcare providers (HCPs) always adopt the latest evidence to optimize patient care? While knowledge and competence gaps are critical barriers that must be addressed, there are many contextual barriers that HCPs face which have previously been unaddressed by medical education. This session will examine how behavioral and implementation science applied in the context of medical education can not only identify these barriers to change, but also enable the development of tailored content and instructional design to help overcome them.

Grant Anatomy 101: Dissecting A Grant Proposal (view archive)
Session Sponsored by Creative Educational Concepts and Medlive

Is our needs assessment too long or too short? What’s more important — the online portal fields or the uploaded proposal? How can we best share our experience in this disease state? Does anyone actually read pages 10-35 of the proposal?

CME/CE providers constantly ask these types of questions, mostly amongst themselves, and therefore rarely get satisfying answers. Supporters are limited in their ability to share internal preferences, yet know that stronger proposals can provide more clarity and lead to supporting more impactful education. Wait a second—everyone benefits from better proposals? Sounds like it’s time to get our hands dirty and all get on the same page. In this panel session, the provider-side moderator will ask the tough questions, and the brave supporter-side panelists will share first their disclaimers, then their perspectives, likes and preferences, dislikes and pet peeves, and the elements that usually catch the attention of reviewers. If you ever plan to write another proposal, don’t miss this session!

One Step Over the Line? What’s Right, What’s Wrong, and What Falls Into the Grey Area of Accredited CE (view archive)
Session Sponsored by Healio CME and Pri-Med

🎶 “We Walk the Line”🎶

We keep a close watch on these disclosures of ours
We keep our eyes wide open all the time.
We mitigate, cause stakes are high
Although complex, we walk the line.

As sure as night is dark and day is light
We keep slides on our minds both day and night.
The slides were fine…’til questions come our way
The logo was gone, we walk the line.

We read the Standards twice and then once more,
Still not quite sure what they’re asking for.
We check each box with purpose, not just sign—
Because we care, we walk the line.

We may not be Johnny Cash, but we do know the rights, wrongs, and maybe rights/maybe wrongs of accreditation. In this session, we’ll take a look at various real-world scenarios that present compliance and/or ethical conundrums, discuss how we’d each address the problems, and hopefully help you walk the line to keep your own organization’s reputation squeaky clean.

Social Listening Success Story: Amplifying Engagement and Uncovering Insights (view archive)

This session explores how real-time social listening can elevate the impact of educational programs. Featuring a compelling case study, this discussion highlights how actively monitoring online clinician conversations led to smarter, more responsive content and measurable outcomes, including the following:

  • Stronger learner engagement: Educational content was refined based on real-world clinician dialogue, resulting in more relevant, resonant learning experiences
  • Clear demonstration of value: Tracking the impact of educational content on clinician sentiment and discussions provided tangible evidence of program impact
  • Powerful geographic insights: Regional patterns and issues identified through clinician conversation revealed hidden challenges and informed program strategy

Discover how social listening can reshape the way IME providers connect with—and respond to—the needs of the clinician community.

Taking a Clinical Trials Approach to Outcomes Design (view archive)
Session Sponsored by Academic CME

On the surface, it may not be obvious how outcomes design for CME programming aligns with a clinical trial mindset, but there are some clear alignments (ie, learning objectives=research questions, multiple levels of assessment=primary and secondary endpoints). In this session, we’ll look at ways that we can borrow even more from the world of clinical trials to improve our overall outcomes methodologies and make our data even more consequential.

Time Well Spent: Optimizing Educational Events with Circadian Rhythm Science (view archive)
Session Sponsored by Daiichi Sankyo

When it comes to planning impactful educational events, timing isn’t just about logistics, we should consider biology. Join us for a dynamic and thought-provoking session on how circadian rhythms and attention patterns influence learning, engagement, and retention. Whether you’re designing a 45-minute webinar or a multi-day international conference, this conversation will equip you with science-backed strategies to enhance cognitive performance at your events.

Karen Roy has a keen interest in the science of sleep and wakefulness and will be joined by a global expert in sleep and circadian biology for a live interview and Q&A. Our guest is Professor Clare Anderson, a professor of Sleep and Circadian Science from the University of Birmingham in the UK. Her research delves into the role of sleep and circadian research in optimizing how we think, feel, and function. Her work has informed policy or practice in healthcare, transportation, and other performance-critical sectors to improve performance, health and safety. In this live interview and Q&A, she’ll unpack how our internal clocks shape attention and fatigue, and how to plan with the brain in mind. You’ll gain practical insights into:

  • The best times of day to schedule different types of sessions
  • How to design full-day agendas that align with natural attention rhythms
  • Strategies for supporting global audiences across time zones
  • What actually works to reduce fatigue and boost retention

The CE Bill of Rights: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Fair Balance (view archive)
Session Sponsored by Global Learning Collaborative

We hold these truths to be self-evident: that not all outcomes are created equal, that faculty can be managed without revolt, and that independence is worth defending at all costs! In this spirited session, we’ll draft The CE Bill of Rights—a declaration of the essential freedoms and responsibilities that unite us as CE professionals. From educational design to commercial support, we’ll define the inalienable principles that protect our work, improve our practice, and help orient the next generation of CE citizens. Whether you’re a founding father or fresh recruit, join us as we ratify the rules that keep the CE republic strong.

Got Questions? Research Has Answers (view archive)

We educate to empower evidence-based practice, but are we evidence-creating practitioners? Join us to explore the gap between consuming and conducting research in education. We’ll tackle the big questions: Should busy educators add research to their plates? How do you even begin? Who will actually care about what you discover? What might you discover? This session demystifies practitioner research and helps you decide if—and how—to make the leap from research consumer to research creator with some quick hits of what we have found from our own research.
