CMEpalooza Fall Wrapup (and a Special Surprise)

Phew – what a day!

We had a record 986 of you join us yesterday for a fantastic day of education. Both Derek and I had did a double take when we saw the final number (Derek texted me multiple times, “Are you sure that’s right?” and yes, that’s what our web analytics say. Plus, we can see how many people are watching each live session and it was clear very early that this was going to be a banner year) (note from Derek: I’m still pretty sure Scott is making that number up. I’m not sure how he’s manipulating the WordPress analytics dashboard, but I know he’s watched Weird Science multiple times, so maybe that has something to do with it.) Thanks to all of you for joining us – it’s humbling and rewarding to see the impact that CMEpalooza continues to have on our community.

I always learn a lot as I listen to our panels expound upon their particular areas of expertise, which energizes me as least for the next few days until I go back to relying on caffeine to do that for me.

A few notes and tidbits as we put a bow on this year’s event:

  1. All of the CMEpalooza Fall sessions are now available to be viewed in the CMEpalooza Archives (thank to our Archive sponsor, Array). Just go to the Fall 2022 tab on our website and find the session you missed and want to watch. Or if there is some nugget of knowledge you missed when the Amazon delivery guy knocked on your door, you can go back and catch it again now.
  2. There is still time to participate in the special CMEpalooza Scavenger Hunt. Just go to the website of this special promotion’s sponsor, Broadcast Beat Studios and look for the CMEpalooza logo. Click on it and see what happens! I promise it’s nothing bad. We’ll leave this promotion running until this Friday at 5 pm ET before we pick 10 winners of $100 Amazon gift cards.
  3. If you did not complete the short survey on our LIVE tab after watching our sessions (get to it by clicking here), we’d greatly appreciate if you would do so. It really does give us ideas for the future and allows us to fine tune our education for the CME community. Plus, you get to share your favorite jokes with us (like this one — “Why does a duck have tail feathers? To cover up his butt quack.” Hah!).
  4. For those of you who simply cannot get enough of CMEpalooza, we’ve got some good news for you. There is more of CMEpalooza on the way very soon! In less than 2 weeks, in fact. Yes, indeedy-do, we’ve got a special CMEpalooza Spotlight on tap at 11 am on Tuesday, Nov. 1. What better way to start a new month than with our smiling faces (no promises on the smiles). For this Spotlight broadcast, we’ll be talking with the team at Broadcast Beat Studios about the role of the live video studio and get some “show and tell” about all of the cool features that today’s production studios offer. So set some time aside now to join us. If nothing else, I promise it won’t be boring.

Everything You Need to Know About CMEpalooza Fall

Where do I watch CMEpalooza Fall? You watch it on the LIVE page.

Do I have to refresh the page to watch new sessions? That is super annoying. No, you do not have to refresh the page to watch new sessions. Every session has a unique link, so you don’t need to refresh the LIVE page to watch each new session. Just find the session you want to watch at the appropriate time and click that link to begin. Easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

Will people be able to hear me on the broadcast? No. You are not on the broadcast. You are only watching a video feed of the broadcast. You can sing My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion at full volume and no one will hear you except your neighbors, who might call the police, who might interrupt you while watching CMEpalooza. So, don’t play My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion at full volume while watching CMEpalooza.

Can I watch CMEpalooza at home? Yes.

Can I watch CMEpalooza at the office? Yes! Probably! Check your office guidelines to be sure! Or stay home! Either one is fine!

Can I watch CMEpalooza in a conference room with 150 other people? Sure? I mean, I wouldn’t want to do that even before the pandemic, so I’m probably the wrong person to ask.

Can I watch CMEpalooza with Tom Cruise I don’t know. Let’s ask him.

I guess not, but he seems sad about it.

Do I have to pre-register or register? Nope.

Do I have to pay anything to watch CMEpalooza? I love paying registration fees.

No. You don’t have to pay anything to watch CMEpalooza.

Do I have to take a survey afterward? Well, you don’t have to, but it would be nice if you did. It’s only a couple questions and shouldn’t take you more than 60 seconds. If it takes you more than 60 seconds, Scott will come to your house and re-create the Thornton Melon graduation speech scene from Back to School for you and a group of friends..

Can I get a certificate for watching CMEpalooza? Actually, yes. Well, kind of. We’re not accredited or certified or anything like that, and we have no way of verifying whether you actually watched any of these sessions or not. But if you want a certificate of completion that you can use to self-report participation in CMEpalooza Fall 2022, here you go. We’ll also post it on the LIVE page. Who knows, maybe these certificates will be worth something 200 years from now.

How do I ask questions of the presenters? There are three ways you can ask questions:

  1. Send a text to the CME Outfitters text line at 267-666-0CME (0263)
  2. Tweet a question using the #CMEpalooza hashtag
  3. If you open up the viewing window in YouTube (click on “Watch on YouTube” on lower left corner), you can enter in questions within the YouTube chat function.

We try to get to as many questions as we can throughout each presentation.

Do I have to watch all the sessions? YES! No. Watch what interests you.

Will the sound quality for each presenter be crystal clear with consistent volume and no glitches? I mean, really, have you been on, I don’t know, 500 web calls in the last month? Is it always perfect for everyone? Of course not. That said, we’re better with this technology stuff than the average bear – we HAVE been doing this for 8 years now so hopefully we’ve learned something. So will it be pretty good for almost every presenter? Yes, yes it will. There will be some people who sound better than others. There may be a few glitches and hiccups. That’s just how it goes with a free conference where presenters volunteer their time and use their own equipment. Some people aren’t comfortable doing a presentation while wearing headphones and a mic, so we don’t force them to use it. We do the best that we can with what we have available to us.

Will I be offended by anything during CMEpalooza? I doubt it, but who knows. If you are, please email Scott and tell him all about it in extensive detail.

What if I’m busy during the day of the live broadcast? All the sessions will be archived on the website, like, immediately (archive sponsored by Array.) How are we able to do it so fast? We have a new intern who is a real crackerjack on the interwebs. Here he is taking a break from writing our latest blog post.
